Introducing Moira Elizabeth Whalen!
What a past few days! After 3 long weeks, my father, his friend Tommy Sullivan, and myself finished a full renovation of our bathroom. We wrapped up Saturday evening and was helped greatly by Rick, Jackie, Mary Ellen, and Kerry cleaning up. After finishing the last paint touches on Sunday night, I sat down for a game of Madden '09 with Trevor. Trevor was beating me handily when all of a sudden Cortney yelled from upstairs that her water broke! We headed to Lourdes and were there by 12:30 am. Cortney was in labor from then until 8:11 am when our beautiful Moira was born!
She spent her first day relaxing and getting to know her family and friends. Nana Jackie and Grammie Whalen were there when she was born, followed up by visits from Aunt Kerry, Sharon Arnold, Uncle Pat and Michelle, Uncle Dickie, Gramma B, Poppy Whalen and Grampa Rick, Aunt Sharon, Sarah Whalen, Aunt Pat, Elizabeth Rounds, Erin, Andy, and Lilly Hull, Dan, Maggie and Erin Bardeen, Lee, Melissa and Braedon Ryan, The Gassner family, Maggie Santoni, and Kara and Jim Giblin, and Auntie Sue!
We're so excited and so blessed to have such a beautiful little girl. She weighed in at 9 pounds and 7 ounces, measuring 21 inches. Mackey Francis is excited to see his baby sister....he's wrapped himself up in her blanket and is waiting patiently to see her!
We will be at Lourdes until Weds. afternoon...feel free to stop by and visit!

Quincy "Puppy" Sands
What I really wanted to say was how this animal had touched our souls and taught us some of the most important lessons in our lives. 'A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours,' I wrote. "Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things- a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty...-Marley and Me
